THEME PARK DESIGN: Pirate HARRRbor

Welcome to PIRATE HARBOR, where you can live out your funnest pirate fantasies without the risk of actually walking the plank!

This is a concept piece I did for both fun and practice a little while ago. It was during a time when my work duties involved more art directing and less art making, so it was a way to keep the muscles fresh. Since moving to the theme park industry, I've been learning a lot about how stories are translated into experiences designed for people. More importantly, I've been learning how different the art dynamics in this industry are versus the other ones in which I've worked.

Hope you enjoyed! Thanks for looking :)

    1. Thanks, Estevao! I look forward to seeing some of my concepts eventually become real spaces and attractions. For now, they reside in concept heaven.

  2. Looks fun and interesting. I'm sure theme park design presents its own unique challenges compared to like films or games. Hopefully it's still been an enjoyable process nonetheless?

    1. Thanks, Chris! Yeah, it's definitely been fun and learning about the feasibility of projects has really engaged my analytical side. I'm hoping to post more about it so people can know more about it, since it's not the most well-known side of the industry.

  3. Hey, it's happy and positive alright, and has great color. But it's also a great composition and beautifully executed. You're fortunate you are good at painting people AS WELL as settings. Most people gravitate to either one or the other, as you know.

    1. Thanks, Ted! And well, painting people does come in handy, but with big shots such as this one, you're not really painting people so much as painting blobs of color that hopefully resemble the human figure, lol.
