BEFORE
Does this ever happen to you: sometimes you look at a piece you've done and you're proud of it, and you put it away for a while, and then you look at it and you're like, "this needs something" but you don't know what. Well, that's what happened with this piece. I did it last December, put it away and then looked at it this past March and saw a few things I wanted to change...hopefully for the better.
Stay thirsty, my friends!

ReplyDeleteAre you kidding? That happens to me on just about everything I do. Nice 'final' piece. ha ha
ReplyDeleteThanks, everyone, for the kind words. Cheers to the eternal struggle that is making art!
ReplyDeleteLater piece seems a little more contrast-y with the colors; more going on with the addition of the bird character for sure. The older piece seems more like there's a cloud overhead, blocking direct sunlight on the subjects.
ReplyDeleteTo me, the two pieces work as stills from the same scene, the "before" being earlier, and the lighting changing as the cloud are moving. This seems esp. with the characters' poses and acting - the tortoise character lecturing the lizard, w/ the bird flying in at the tail-end of the conversation; "That's right! Dos Equis."
