Disneyworld! Universal! Orlando! Oh, My!

It's been a while since I've been able to return to the blogosphere, and here's why. The week before Thanksgiving I got to go to Orlando for a week long of theme park benchmarking. In our industry, benchmarking is researching through first hand experience, so for 5 days I got to go to all 4 Disneyworld parks - Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Hollywood Studios, Animal Kingdom, Universal Studios, Universal Islands of Adventure and even Kennedy Space Center. Needless to say, it was an AMAZING experience, and I was able to learn and absorb so much. When I got back, it was straight to work as so many things in my professional and personal lives added up. But now things are a bit lighter and I'm eager to resume my normal habits.

The painting you see above is an illustration I did as a thank you for my bosses that provided me with this opportunity. It's a composite of all of the major "weenies" from each park. For those that aren't familiar, "weenie" is a termed coined by Walt Disney to refer to something that acts like a 'visual magnet' drawing people to a certain location, similar to how a weenie on the end of stick would draw an animal constantly toward it.

I could write endless blogposts about the different things I learned from each park, but sadly I don't think I have that much time on my hands. Maybe I will, but for now here are some pictures.
