"Light & Dark" and a Happy New Year!

So my last post for 2012 is about comic book characters! This set is called "Light & Dark" and is meant to capture the entire spirit and character of Superman and Batman in a single image. What was interesting about the process of this set is that the Superman one came fairly easily, although with an interesting backstory that I'll elaborate on in a future post. The Batman one, however, proved to be much like the character it was representing in its elusiveness. I had a hard time finding the composition because I was trying to figure out how I can have a cool silhouette of Batman until it finally hit me!

The answer lied not in how much of Batman you'd see but in how much you wouldn't. It was a bit risky in the sense that it's not the most iconic Batman composition, but hey, it suits the concept and in my mind works well as a contrast to the Superman image. Hope you enjoy and have a happy new year, everyone!

  3. They're both great, Mauricio, but I have to say I really like the punchy contrast and storytelling of the Superman piece. Batman was always more interesting to me because he thrives in the night world, but your solution for Superman's daylight world is just bitchen and powerful.
